What happens in typical romance novels?

I am writing a paper about how women are in romance novels. I don't read romance novels so I need a lot of people's input. The paper has to be about women wanting to fufill their fantasies with men. What is a woman's stereotypical encounter when she wants to be with a man? What happens in typical romance novels?
I can break romance novels down into a simple sentence, but for your sake I'll make it a paragraph. It is simple really. Girl (usually new to town) meets mysterious, articulate and dashing boy. Most times, there is a confrontation that leads girl to despise boy for various reasons... Then suddenly, girl gets into a sticky or dangerous situation in which boy saves girl. Girl falls in love, and boy confesses that he has been infatuation from the moment he laid his handsome eyes on her. They are in happy bliss until there is another conflict, usually a third party is interested in either boy or girl. Conflict eventually gets resolved, Boy and Girl's relationship becomes stronger then ever! Then, they live happily ever after. What happens in typical romance novels?
Well, in the romance books that I have read, the woman usually fantasizes about the perfect man for her. And somehow or another she comes across him and he is usually someone that she already knows or he is someone that she loved before and they now are getting reacquainted after so many years and they find out that their love for each other never actually left.

Basically, she dreams about the perfect man, he comes along, they fall in love.... The rest is history. What happens in typical romance novels?
Hi Misha,

Classically in modern romance literature, publishers often ask for a very simple formula for a romance story: The female must be easy to identify with, simple and even rather plain. The male should be exactly the opposite; hunky, heroic and a perfect specimen of what women drool over. The publishing industry asks that women be savvy, independent, intelligent and feisty. A submissive woman does not make for an attractive heroine so the female lead shouldn't fall easily into the man's arms, yet there should be something vulnerable about her. She will never show her desire to be protected or cared for, but that desire will always be there, regardless of how well hidden it is. I hope this had been of some help to you.
two people meet but there is an obstacle which keeps them apart and after some time and some stuff they finally get together. all romance novels, books etc are the same but i still love them.
