Can you recommend some good historical romance novels?

I'll admit that I'm a historical romance junkie. I've read many of Susan Johnson's novels and I've dabbled in Beatrice Small's works.

However, I am not looking for intense conflicts and disturbing deaths (hint - Small's novels), but rather a fluffy, light book with more love scenes than problem scenes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Can you recommend some good historical romance novels?
Like yourself, I am a huge romance junkie. For historical authors that don't have to much conflict my favorites are Johanna Lindsey, Judith Mcnaught, Julia Quinn, Sabrina Jeffries(she has some conflict), and if you like it a little steamier Cheryl Holt. I know that there are a bunch more that I read, but those are the ones that I can think of right off the top of my head.
im not sure how historical this is, but its supposed to be and it is romance: Both Sides of Time. i cant remember who wrote it though.

If you're looking for substance, go for

The Thornbirds By Coleen McCullough

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

The French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden (doesn't work as a romance but is engrossing)
Have you tried Julie Garwood or Jude Deveraux? Both are light, fun writers, with little bloodshed and a wealth of historicals to choose from. Can you recommend some good historical romance novels?
I simply loved the Outlander series (6 books) by Diana Gabaldon. There is a tremendous amount of history, a little sci-fi (time travel) and a great romance.

"In Outlander, a 600-page time-travel romance, strong-willed and sensual Claire Randall leads a double life with a husband in one century, and a lover in another. Torn between fidelity and desire, she struggles to understand the pure intent of her heart. But don't let the number of pages and the Scottish dialect scare you. It's one of the fastest reads you'll have in your library.

While on her second honeymoon in the British Isles, Claire touches a boulder that hurls her back in time to the forbidden Castle Leoch with the MacKenzie clan. Not understanding the forces that brought her there, she becomes ensnared in life-threatening situations with a Scots warrior named James Fraser. But it isn't all spies and drudgery that she must endure. For amid her new surroundings and the terrors she faces, she is lured into love and passion like she's never known before. "

Happy reading
You absolutely can't go wrong with the series of novels about the Malory family by Johanna Lindsay. I am sure you will love them. In order, Love Only Once, Tender Rebel, Gentle Rogue, The Magic of You, Say You Love Me, The Present, %26amp; Loving Scoundrel. She writes such vivid, believeable (and lovable) characters. I don't know anyone who has read these who doesn't like them. She writes other great historical romance novels too but IMHO these are the best. I hope you enjoy them!!
