What do you hate and love about romance/fantasy novels?

I'm writing a novel and it's fantasy/romance. But I would like to know what you guys hate and love that authors do. Do you like fantasy or Romance novels?Romance/fantasy?What do you hate and love about romance/fantasy novels?
i hate how sometimes the fntasy aspect can overshadow the romance

and i hate when in fantasy novels there are like 523424314315424 different characters whose weird names you just cannot keep up with

however, when it is done correctly and there is a perfect balance between fantasy and romance, then fantasy/romance books aremy favorite type of book to read!
Live,

You have to remember that people have their own opinions about what's to like and dislike. This should not deter anyone from writing the genre they enjoy reading. I don't read romance novels simply because I'm not into that sort of thing, but others find that it's a way to get away for awhile and see the world through rose-colored glasses.

I'm not a big fantasy reader either, but I did like movies such as Dragonslayer, Reign of Fire, and JRR Tokiens Lord of the Rings.

I don't read generic romance novels, they all are entirely too predictable and as a rule I don't read fantasy novels. If you want to find out what people are looking for in a romance/fantasy genre you should read "The Sword Of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. You can find all his titles at

I like fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and paranormal romance..

What I like most about them is that they draw you in and let you live someone else's drama (good and bad,,exciting and boring.. happy and sad) but usually end on on a good note having solved the delima or gotten the guy/girl and happily moving on. This helps in a life full of stress and allows me to keep moving on as well. What do you hate and love about romance/fantasy novels?
I only read books that are not confined to a single genre - those are usually formulaic and thus not what I consider good or original writing.

And it is more exciting for me if the story is not centred solely on romance, but has a more complex plot, great twists in the end, and deeper characters.
Okay so... I personally LOVE romance/fantasy as long as there is not pornographic sex scenes because now a days people are just in love with those and I think it is disgusting. So if you want to write a good book leave out sex all together and find a better topic. People will love you for it.
it better not be about vampires.

that's been done enough already and i don't think anyone would be able to compare with Twilight.

Make the romance natural souding not a forced relationship (like i think harry potter and ginny weasley were)

What I love about them:

They make me laugh when I don't even feel like it

They make me squeal like a little girl

The guy characters should be very romantic (but not overly needy)

What I hate about them:

I know that they can never be real, no matter how much I wish for it

Overdone and melodramatic and laughable

descriptive ajectives,amaturish plots
