Lay aside the stereotypes and the skepticism and tell me what you really, honestly think about romance novels. It can be stories by Jane Austen or Nora Roberts. A recent statistic showed that half of what is published today is from the romantic genre. We're not talking erotica here: just mainstream romance, the love stories--not the sex stories. What is your opinion of this genre and why do you think people are snapping them up left and right? What do you think about romance novels?
i'm quite a fan of them. i think that people also enjoy them because its what many people want to find. like, its realistic fiction at its best. what happens in those novels, such as with jane austen, cause i am a big fan of hers, these things can actually happen, its just rare to find. =) i think thats why people are so intrigued with them, it opens their minds to reality and what can happen while making it seem like a fantasy. 鈾?/div>
Romance novels are written as in the fantasy mindset, take one and see how it always turns out so wonderfully. It also leaves it predictable.Just like those fairy tales for kids like Snow White and Cinderella. They go through some terrible thing to have a prince rescue them..please, that only makes women dependent on men to be their life, not part of their life. I feel that romance novels exaggerate what real life can be like in that aspect. It makes one have a glamorized way of looking at a relationship if read too young also. I feel that one doesn't really see that a relationship is hard work at times and not something that story books are made of all the time. What do you think about romance novels?
I have no idea why people buy them. I think they're horrible. I want to read a book that has a story worth telling, something that requires an author to have a brain. Michael Crichton is an excellent example.
Personally, I love romance novels. Maybe some people read them to be able to imagine what love might be like. A lot of people haven't found true love, and resort to reading about it. I read them because it's nice to see what emotions and events occur along the way to the happy ending, or in some cases, not-so-happy ending. Romance novels also are able to add mystery, drama, and so many sub-genres to the plots. There is so much you can do with a romance novel.
I guess that's just my opinion, though...What do you think about romance novels?
loves it! i love those books and along with chick lits. they're bloody good like confessions of a shopaholic %26lt;3 !!
Purest escapism. A lot of them are fluff (Harlequins, etc.). I can't read the fluff ones all the time, %26amp; I try for the ones with a modicum of plot %26amp; historical.
I took a small stack to college just to give my mind a break. After studying %26amp; reading novels that required thought to process, sometimes I needed a break. Think of it as clearing the palate around a good meal.
Most people don't think of Jane Austen as romance, %26amp; I didn't either at 1st; I know you're right however. And those would fall into the more serious stuff in my book.
If it has I title like the Forbidden Romance or Caribbean Passion it is dull but good romance novel like a Jane Austin book read it
Tis lovely lovely. Its just such a nice way to get away from everything.
Well I have been readings romances for many years now. They are compelling. It also depends on which book you read. Instead of bashing them and saying they are horriable. What if you picked on up to your liking. There are many out there. You do not like fluff? That's okay. Try the Anita Blake series. The chick kicks butt and preferes to save the guys. But theres other with mystery, others where she is the soft hearted woman looking for love. Just try it instead of pushing it around. Theres lots to choose from.
