He grabs it and a genie comes out of it. He gave him only one wish; like anything possible. So Jonathan wishes that he had a true love that lived in Kansas somewhere. So, the genie grants in, and Jonathan find the girl of his dreams at farming school. Her name is Pearl, and in some point in the novel they get separated and she finds out that her father is a genie, and she is a half blood genie.
