While I disagree with the statement about Feehan, I love all her books, I do have suggestions for adult ones that are not "smutty".
Any and all books by the Queen of Historics, Georgette Heyer. She mostly wrote in the Regency period of England. As she wrote in the 20's and 30's, they are pretty clean. How good is she? Let's put it this way, she published the very first novel she ever wrote. Tell me who writing today has that track record. Even now, about 90 years after she wrote them, they are still on the market and just as good. Again, what romances have that record, besides Austin. What are some really good romance novels?
City of Bones By Cassandra Clare
Clary, Sixteen years old goes clubbing with her best friend, Simon, she sees a good-looking boy just kill another boy and realizes that she in the only person that can see them. She soon is thrown into the shadow hunter world and discovers that her life has been built on lies and is torn between love and family secrets. The race is shadowhunters but this book has werewolves, vampires, fey and warlocks, it's an urban fantasy romance. I honestly absolutely love these series, it鈥檚 engaging, the characters are hilarious and the twists are wicked!
uglies by scott westerfeld
"ugly until age 16 when they'll undergo an operation that will change them into pleasure-seeking "pretties." Society making everyone look the same, cause we all wanted perfection now we have it but I still isn鈥檛 good enough? Loving someone for WHO they are and not what they look like
dark lover by j.r. ward ( The blackdagger brotherhood Series)
it's different to all the other vampire book and the love in this is really intense.
"In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood but fate brings beth into his life as he must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead.."
You mean REAL romance books, the smutty adult ones? :)
If yes, then Christine Feehan's Dark series is good. It gets repetitive, so just start with her first few golden ones. Her later ones kind of suck. But Dark Magic, Dark Prince, Dark Gold, and Dark Fire are good.
MY FAVORITES are Kresley Cole's. A Hunger Like No Other is the BEST, as is Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night, Dark Desires After Dusk, etc. :) She writes electrifyingly lovely stuff!!!!
My friend really likes Sherrilyn McKinnon, but I've never been into her. :(What are some really good romance novels?
i know the kids these days are loving the "twilight" series...but if you want some raunchy, hot, hardcore "romance"...i HIGHLY recommend the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. This **** is HOT and an actually good read.
I'm the same! Try Gena Showalter or this is the best site -

I couldnt live without this site!!!
Labyrinth, by Kate Mosse
Sepulchre, by Kate Mosse
^ Both are historical supernatural fiction with a dash of romance.
Try Jill Marie Landis' Blue Moon. It's a historic romance novel. Written for adults, no teenage junk and it's very taste full and not lovey-dubby.
Well there is this book called the Raging Quiet and I absolutely loved it, it was a somewhat easy read but had a very nice plot.
Love in the time of cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez!
One of the best books ever written!
