Any specifically good Historical Fiction/Romance novels that you could suggest?

I love a very strong leading lady and I like long books as well. Please and Thank you.Any specifically good Historical Fiction/Romance novels that you could suggest?
Try Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. Also Sepulchre by the same author. They're both pretty long, historical fiction with a splash of romance. They've also got some supernatural elements, but not vampires or werewolves or anything like that.
You might like A Song of Ice and Fire series, it's medieval fiction and there is plenty of love and intrigue. I have to admit I have never read books quite like these...very well written!Any specifically good Historical Fiction/Romance novels that you could suggest?

The novels of Rosemary Sutcliff are some of the most beautifully written historical fiction. Now, while none of her protagonists are women, she always has fascinating female side characters. Her research is impeccable, but her story comes first, and she weaves them beautifully and organically together. You will learn much about history but will never feel like you're being taught. Her characters are real and deep. In fact, as a man, I was very impressed by the realistic and sensitive way Sutcliff is able to write from a male character's perspective. Then, when her female characters come in, they are much deeper and more real than I find in much other fiction, even that by women writers, and even though they are viewed through the eyes of her male protagonists. Beautiful fiction. None would be called romances, but there is some romance in love that comes out in unexpected and touching places.

She writes mainly about Britain in the Roman and Dark Ages, but since the characters come first for her, you can enjoy and appreciate her books even if you don't think you are drawn to those periods.

I recommend "The Eagle of the Ninth," "The Lantern Bearers," "The Sword at Sunset," and "The Shining Company," all by Rosemary Sutcliff.
