Do you find many romance novels to be similar to eachother?

I've read a lot of romance novels with very similar plot lines but by different authors. Have you? I'm definately not saying all romance novels in the least bit, but definately some. Agree? Disagree?Do you find many romance novels to be similar to eachother?
If they are within a particular imprint, that is not surprising. It may be a 'formula book', which is one of the major complaints originally about imprints like Harlequin Romance.



Some formula imprints are very specific, others not so much. One may list that the woman be a CEO on a business trip that has an affair with a local worker, while another imprint may only require that all stories take place in a major foriegn city.Do you find many romance novels to be similar to eachother?

Yes, I agree. It seems alot of the time they are not too original.
