or are romance novels not considered porn?Do men get offended when their middle-aged wives read romance novels?
I don't see why men should get offended, unless their wives start comparing them unfavourably to the heroes of romances - i.e. "Why can't you be more like -" whoever it is. And not all romance novels contain sex scenes - there are none in Barbara Cartland for example.
I think romance novels are escapist fantasy for women, not really the equivalent of porn, more the equivalent of adventure stories, westerns, etc that men like to read.
Personally, I prefer whodunnits.
Hmmm - yes - I've had the misfortune to pick one up - thinking it was sort of a romance novel. More outright sex than a porn story, I'd say, and in the most interesting ways.
The one I read had a hero who was Jesse or something, cowboy type disinherited by his brother (blah, blah), and forced to rescue the heroine (not heroin, Igor!) and ride off into the sunset with her in front of him in the saddle, where they had it off on his galloping horse under the stars by the simple expedient of him picking her up bodily and turning her to face him - then letting the horse do the work.
I can imagine The Boss laughing at that one - not swooning.Do men get offended when their middle-aged wives read romance novels?
They're steamier than they were, but whatever. I love porn, and I would give my wife the freedom to do as she likes. I don't consider it cheating in any way - it's fantasy. The main effect of porn is to make people want to mast**bate. That means it would make my wife horny. Cool.
Yes, because most middle-aged men have not taken care of themselves. So, I am sure they get made about their wives reading about muscular and athletic men.
Put down your man sized food and go to the gym... problem solved.Do men get offended when their middle-aged wives read romance novels?
No, and it's not by any means considered porn.
not if the wives are not offended if their husbands watch porn
If I were at that age, I'd probably be happy that she isn't nagging me while she reads.
I doubt it.
Why would he care what she reads?
Well,
one
romance novels don't usually involve the woman reading them
masturbating to the image of a man her husband looks nothing like
being slapped, spit on, and called nasty names.
two
Pornography is defined as media created for the sole purpose of sexual arousal and excitement,
and since you freely admit you have to flip halfway through the book to even get to a sex scene,
I think it's safe to say romance novels aren't porn in any sense.
