What are some good science fiction romance novels?

Any suggestions please? Preferably very well known novels that I can find at the library. What are some good science fiction romance novels?
Try some of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders novels; there's usually a strong element of romance in there (though some will argue her books are fantasy; she says they're science fiction and that's good enough for me!) The first is Dragonflight but you can jump in at several different points.

Also try some of Lois McMaster Bujold. I liked Shards of Honor a lot; The Curse of Chalion is more fantasy but good with a romance. What are some good science fiction romance novels?
Try the The Way We Were.

Personally, I think Anne McCaffrey's idea of romance (from the Pern books) is "Me hit you. Me rape you. Now you fall in love with me. Caveman be romantic!"

The last of the Elijah Baley books, "The Robots of Dawn", is an award-winner with quite a bit of romance. "Flowers for Algernon" ditto, though the romance is unsuccessful. Of course, there's Star Wars, specifically "The Empire Strikes Back" or "The Return of the Jedi" - both quite good books (Empire, particularly, is better than the movie). Also, there is "Rama II" and "The Garden of Rama", both of which are almost soap operas with the number of characters and the quantity of romance. Edgar Rice Burroughs "John Carter of Mars" books always have some romance, but they also tend toward the caveman side of things (not as badly as McCaffrey, however). They are also generally short - and many are free online.

Of all of these, I would have to vote for Asimov's "The Robots of Dawn". It has the addition of being an excellent (though odd) detective story, and is probably the best story of any of these listed. Second choice: one of the Star Wars books, because they are shorter and easier to read. 3rd is "Flowers for Algernon" because it is a classic science fiction book (though not as good as these first two).
