I'll second the recommendation of 'Outlander'. Also, if you like Wuthering Heights I guess you're not opposed to classics, in which case why not try the novels of Jane Austen? Pride and Prejudice is the most well-known and it is an incredible story, with probably the best romantic hero ever. Then there's Sense and Sensibility, another great novel, and basically any of Austen's work is good.

Also, I'd recommend if you want to try something a bit different and fantasy-genre oriented, Melanie Rawn's 'Dragon Prince'. It perfectly mixes fantasy with political intrigue, dragons, an interesting world with a cracking romance story (I love the hero, Rohan!).

If you want something literary but modern then I'd recommend either 'Atonement' by Ian McEwan or 'Possession' by A.S. Byatt. 'Atonement' is an inexplicably great book that I literally didn't put down till I'd finished it. You just have to read it (see the movie AFTER, not before). And 'Possession' is a very intelligent novel that mixes the stories of contemporary scholars with poets from the Victorian era. It juxtaposes the letters of the poets (very heart-wrenching at times and beautiful) with the modern story with an excellent portion of romance.

Hope this helps. ^^What are some really good romance novels?
The Jane Austin Novels,

Pride and Prejudice,

Mansfield Park,

These are Sickenly Sweet Chocolate Tin Assortment Style. The Mode of Dress in the 18 Century remind me of the Tin of Quality Street in the Film and Television Series of these Stories.

You should go and Visit the City of Bath to get a Flavour of the Period.

They are not my Cup of Tea but Women Enjoy these Stories.

Anyone of the Stories of Irish Writer Maeve Binchy goes down well,

Light a Penny Candle.
The bronze horseman by Pauline Simmons:-

A family living in Russia when Hitler invades. The daughter Tantiana meets a young man called Alexander. They are drawn together but their love could tear her family apart and at its heart lies a secret that could mean death to anyone who heard it.

Pride and Prejudice

The other Boelyn Girl (Yes it is also a book)

P.s I love you by Cecilia Ahern:

A widowed womans husband organises letters to be sent to her after he dies. Touching and at points funnyWhat are some really good romance novels?
The Inheritance Cycle!!

Some examples of romance:

Roran not letting out a cry while recieving fifty lashes because the thought of being back with his true love gave him strength.

and a quote........

Roran began walking toward the tent, then he spun around and threw his arms out in the air as if he would gather the entire world to his breast. "Eragon, I'm going to be married!"

With a laugh, Eragon waved his hand. "Go on, you fool. She's waiting for you."

Doesn't that just scream romance? Oh wait, you said a good novel, nevermind.
Some are plain romance but most are romantic comedies...

The A List (series of 10) - Zoey Dean

About the goings on of the teenage children of the rich and famous, contains a wide variety of material - love, hate, jealousy etc. Loved it!

Girl Meets Boy, Guy Next Door, All American Girl, Avalon High, etc. - Meg Cabot

I absoloutly love Meg Cabot's books! I would especially recommend the Girl Meets Boy %26amp; Guy Next Door as well as the third in that series, I immensly enjoyed them! Some are intended for adults but most for youth and I love them all!

Lioness Quartet, Wild Magic Quartet, Trickster, etc. - Tamora Pierce

Tamora Pierce's books are mainly set in the land of Tortall in medieval times, they use the same characters just at different stages of their lives and different books/series' focus on different people. They consist of fighting, magic, love, etc.

The diaries of kelly ann (2 books) - by Liz Rettig

These recount the goings on of an older teenager as she strugles to make decisions and learn to trust in others. The second one, Now or Never is about her relationship with a boy and is funny but romantic and suspencful at the same time.

It's A Mall World After All - Not sure who wrote it though...

Comedy of a girl and how she falls in love with her best friend's boyfriend's bestfriend while stalking her friend's boyfriend in an attempt to prove he is a lying cheating scumbag. A very good read %26amp; lovey but funny at the same time.

I'd Tell You I Love You But I'd Have to Kill You - Ally Carter

About a girl brought up as a spy and enrolled in a leading spy school who falls in love with an ordinary boy and can鈥檛 tell him who she actually is. Funny. There is a second in the series called To Spy or Not to Spy, it鈥檚 just as good.

Possibly the S.A.S.S. series - Numerous Authors

About the travels of students and what happens to them on their stay - love etc. Not brill but an ok read

Inheritance Cycle - Christopher Paloini

Love them, you have to read them, Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr!

Sweet Valley High Books - ???

I can鈥檛 remember who wrote these but they鈥檙e a pretty good read even if they are kind of old. If you鈥檙e into series鈥檚 these are good as their鈥檚 over 100 books

The Last Summer (Of You and Me) - Ann Brashares

A good book but immensly sad, it is probably better for older teens or adults.

I have more suggestions if you want to hear them, just contact me or check out my website, http://www.freewebs.com/greatteennovels/

Hope you find something you like here!
Read Diana Galbaldon's "Outlander". It is a historical romance novel with a little bit of Time travel. Very good. Outlander is the first book in a series of five books.
