Romance novels have a huge following of all ages around the world.
Romance follows a specific formula. Readers find great comfort in that formula, which is one of the reasons the genre has remained popular for so many years. Are romance only novels no longer popular for any age group?
My Mom and Aunt still read romance books, such as Nora Roberts. [:
I think people are into horror books now, but I still enjoy romance. :DAre romance only novels no longer popular for any age group?
Romance novels are still popular and I think they always will be. People--especially women--like to read about true love and passion and a girl being swept off her feet by some dashing guy. But different genres have their fifteen minutes of fame every now and then. When I was a kid, Goosebumps and other silly horror books were cool. Harry Potter and other fantasy tales were wildly popular just a short time ago. Now there's a ton of vampire books coming out. Books are like fashion--one day high tops and big hair are in, the next day they're out (although I think big hair should never have been "in". I'm glad I was much too young in the 80s to have really participated in fashion--no offense to anyone, haha). But the fact that oodles of romance novels are being produced every day means that it's still a profitable industry. Personally I prefer books that have mystery, suspense and plenty of action mixed in with a little romance.
