I am looking for good fantasy romance novels. Any suggestions?

I am a young woman and I like both fantasy and romance novels and I love when the two are combined. Unfortunately, I seem to have little luck finding books of this type that I enjoy despite the large market. I am open to any type of fantasy element (modern-day magic, vampires, supernatural, traditional elf and dwarf fair, ect.) but I like to avoid excessive violence and adult content.

Minor expletives and scattered adult situations is okay, but too much adult content gets old and repetitive, and excessive cursing wears on me quickly. Blood and gore also seems popular in this particular genre, and too much turns my stomach. Sadly most of the series recommended to me have all this in spades.

Bottom line is I am looking for books that are plot and character driven, and violence, adult content and language is kept at a minimal. I would be happy with just a stand-alone, obscure book, but if there is a series out there that is closer to what I am looking for I would love to know about it.I am looking for good fantasy romance novels. You can go to amazon and look at a couple listmanias. That will lead you to more books and more lists.

Some good lists in their listmania are:

multicultural speculative fiction listmania

christian speculative fiction listmania

paranormal romance listmania

Good publishers are Juno Books. They have a variety: old-fashioned, modern, multicultural.

Broaduniverse specializes in feminist literature. Many --but not most of their writers-- write lesbian love stories. Not what I'm into but some might like it.

Carl Brandon is a site that lists speculative fiction written by people of color:

Jefferson Scott's website: "Where the map ends" specializes in Christian speculative fiction.

Yellow 30 Scifi specializes in conservative speculative fiction.

If you do yahoo or google searches for these places, you can find some good lists there.
There are some books in the young adult section that you might like such as:

The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klaus

The Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan

The Witches' Chillers series by Raven Silverwolf

The Seer Series by Linda Joy Singleton

The Blue Is for Nightmares Series by Laurie Faria StolarzI am looking for good fantasy romance novels. Any suggestions?
I would suggest the author: Tamora Pierce. She has many series out. It is mostly adventure. There are some romance but not a lot. I suggest the series: In the Hand of the Goddess, Wild Mage, Protector of the Small. Also try : Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen. There's a new one its called : Beka Cooper. Hope my suggestions help.
If you want something that will take you for a real ride then try reading Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series (I think it's up to about 11 books now, and each one is as thick as a Harry Potter book). Otherwise I recommend the romance in smaller doses such as Patricia C. Wrede's "Enchanted Forest Chronicles" (a series of 4 books), Merecedes Lackey's "Dragon Jousters" series, and definitely go for any of the Tamora Pierce's series and whatever Jane Austen novels you can get ahold of.I am looking for good fantasy romance novels. kathleen e woodiwiss is very good. have you read gone with the wind? the movie doesnt do it any good. the book is way better. i also enjoyed reading the harry potter books but i am sure youve read them, if not, you should.
"The Princess Bride" by S. Morgenstern is a good book if you're looking for a fantasy romance novel that is on the lighter side of things

There is little, if none, adult content and cursing or blood and gore.

The book has action, romance, adventure, and a good deal of comedy in it so it's an overall good book for pretty much anyone. If you do read it though, the edited version by William Goldman is a good choice. Especially if you are like me and prefer to skip over the "useless fluff" parts of books. He also adds in his take to certain events in the book, but doesn't edit out so much as to lose the overall idea and plot of the book. Definitely worth the read.

Hope it helps!
There is this author i absolutely adore, her name is Johanna Lindsey and amongst her MANY romances she has a series which involves magic and stuff.... check her out! =)
Stephanie Meyer's

Twilight, new moon, and eclipse
You should look into the Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. The first book is called Alanna: The First Adventure. It's about a girl who disguises herself as a boy in order to be trained as a knight. She must also learn to use her healing and other magical powers. There are several other series that continue after this one, my personal favorite being the next one, The Immortals series, which begins with Wild Magic. In my book store, it is found in the teen fiction section, so it really has no adult content, and I don't recall any inappropriate language.

There are also many enjoyable books by Robin McKinley. I love The Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword, and Spindle's End the most.

Diana Wynne Jones write really good fantasy as well, though I have only read Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Air so far.
They would fall more under historical fantasy/science fiction due to the storyline but I would suggest a book series by J. Suzanne Frank. Reflections on the Nile, Shadows on the Aegean, Sunrise on the Mediterranean, and Twilight in Babylon. They all have good plot, action but not too much unnecessary violence, there is a couple you see throughout the book series but the intimate moments between them are not the main focus. You get to see a great deal of how these characters survive one situation to the next.

If that is not your cup of tea, I would suggest a few other series. The first is by Rachel Lee. Shadows of Myth, Shadows of Prophecy, and Shadows of Destiny. There is a war being fought during this series but the violence is not over the top or the main focus. They were really good books. I would reread them in the future.

The next is by Caitlin Brennan. The Mountain's Call, Song of Unmaking and Shattered Dance. Again, really good books and the romance is not the main focus.

I would suggest looking onto books by Luna publishing. You can find them at http://www.eharlequin.com/. I found them by accident and have purchased quite a few books from them. They have a variety of books and categories to chose from.
