Flowers in the Attic by V.C Andrews. Very adult, and has an extreme romantic plot in it. This book is not for the weak hearted, and you WILL grow attached to the narrator. The narrator being the heroine who almost dies of starvation or arsenic poisoning, I can't remember which.
