Why does everyone enjoy vampire romance novels so much?

I might be missing something here, but I think that romance novels are ruining vampires. The only vampire romance series I read was Twilight, and I was pretty disappointed by the poor writing and plot lines. I heard that "Vampire Kisses" was even cornier. Is there anyone out there who is as confused as I am about this whole romance "monster" thing? Why does everyone enjoy vampire romance novels so much?
I don't get it either, I don't particularly find romance novels with vampires in them that interesting. I read Twilight too and liked it for a while, but it's really not that interesting. But if you like commentaries on vampire romance novels, particularly Twilight, I've read some that are hilarious, and totally worth my time. I enjoy those more than the actual books :) Here's a really funny blog from a guy on SparkLife who read Twilight :) Enjoy!!!!

This paranormal romance phase is just a fad. It will disappear in a couple of years.

Also, I am quite ruffled by your casual use of "everyone". I, for one, do not enjoy vampire romance novels, and neither do many people. Why does everyone enjoy vampire romance novels so much?
Something about the fact that they shouldn't be together lures people in.

Edward is the type of guy many females would want: Loyal, Romantic, Charming, etc.

mine?

It's a phase everyone's going through, due to twilight. I don't get how that series got all this hype, i reckon it's cause of the movies. But yeah, it's cause people are seeing Vampires as hot sexy men, and not proper blood sucking demons.

It's a shame.. But hopefully it will pass. Why does everyone enjoy vampire romance novels so much?
they enjoy it bcuz it is different from the average boy girl story

also bcuz they are either obsessed with twilight n vampire diaries ( not that im not)
i agree with you
The rise of early 'gothic' novels featuring monsters, supernatural foes and lunatics gave birth to the idea that vampirism was somehow 'romantic'; however, even Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' was not focused on romance but rather telling a goulish tale, involving humans in various ways. If you watch the history channel special on vampire myths some literary historians point out that vampirism was pieced together from various maniacal historical figures and written about as a barely-disguised metaphor for sexual intercourse, a rather taboo topic to pen prose on in that day.

Myself, I am inclined to agree with Jane Austen's rater cynical view of gothic tomes, as the weak plots depend too heavily on the drama and tragedy of the various miseries and pursuits/escapes, not on the strength of the storytelling or characters themselves. Sadly, one could find more depth in a manga book featuring Van Helsing than in most modern 'vampire' novels. You may like a group on Facebook called Twilight Sucks; I post a running literary critique of the first Twi-book there. Keep seeking out good literature.
Hey, don't paint them all with the Twilight brush, please. The good ones get into deeper issues about what makes us human, overcoming our dark sides, and finding love in unlikely and dangerous places. Just because one series is horrid doesn't mean they all are. Joss Whedon and PN Elrod were doing this long before Edward Cullen's sparkly butt was a gleam in SMeyer's eye.
I don't know, but those "novels' are, I think, pathetic. They hold no literary value at all.
Because vampires live much longer than humans and always look young.that also seems to be why everyone is obsessed with twilight, because Edward is forever young, or at least looks like it anyways. But I agree with you twilight SUCKS and I've heard that the movie is worse! I was gonna read the whole book but I stoped reading it as soon as I finished reading the first two pages! I found the book very boring and it sounds like it was writen by twelve year old.
